But i want to add that you can't sort everyone in one of these two categories. there's a big gray-zone. hackers can become crackers and vice versa.

I think it's all up again now. Hope this was the last of this kind of attacks. It always hits the good guys.

Strange -  my large board got nailed - yeah it was vulnerable, a brand new dedicated server and not fully set up properly and then BoardMod and YaBB  gets hit shortly thereafter. Good news is that we were able to trace down our intruder - jeez, they obviously know about YaBBs and they're on a DSL fixed IP address. Kind of too easy, especially when they then logged into the board using an admin account to see their handywork - not too smart for them - makes it real easy for us though.

wow, these people sound like real retards alright. we should stone them. I haven't stoned someone in days.

Anyways, even though they don't deserve recognition (other than rocks) it is nice to know whats going on.

If you are planning on hunting down the pricks, I have a bag of rocks ready, and I even thought ahead and prepared rocks for people who don't have an abundent supply available.

Theres always some sort of security holes in everything that ppl do on the internet

"they" are everywhere, the fun thing is, to find out where their site is, and play the same game with them. Get down to their level so to speak.

the server was hacked - not just the site.
