OK I will take a look at it again.

I took a look at it. Here is what I got. 2 folders, one is Dutch and other is English, and I also got a mp3 file too. That is it, How do I fix that problem that you mentioned.

It sounds as if your computer is setup to hide the file type 'tag'. Instead of seeing "Sub-boards_for_Y2-1_1-0-8.mod" you are seeing "Sub-boards_for_Y2-1_1-0-8". The ".mod" tag is missing. Is that correct? If so then in any folder window click on the "Tools" menu at the top of the window. Then the "Folder Options.." at the bottom of the list. Then the "View" tab in the dialogue box that opens. In the "Advanced Settings List" take the tick out of the box for "Hide extensions for known file types" & while you are at it you could do the same for the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" Click on the OK Buttons and your tag/extension should now be visible.

As for your Mod file being an MP3 file. When you installed WinAmp (or similar program) it will have automatically associated *.mod files with WinAmp as they also use this file tag. There are a few ways to change this but the easiest is this:

First right click on mod file (Sub-boards_for_Y2-1_1-0-8.mod) and select "Open With" from the list. You could just choose a text editor from the list but you would have to do this every time so rather click on "Choose Program" from the bottom of that same list. Now click on your favourite text editor if it is in the list. If it's not you can browse to the folder where the text editor exe file resides. Once selected you should click the box that says "always use the selected program to open this kind of file" Click OK and your done.

Your mod file should now have the default icon for the text program that you selected rather than an MP3 type icon and should also open in that editor when clicked.

Actually, my icon is still a WinAmp. I hadn't really noticed as I always right click and choose the program to open the text file as I don't always use the same editor.

Ok thank you,

I did all that. I still have Dutch folder, english folder, and right clicked on the winap file and got it to the text file.

Ok I have decided to try out the 2.1 forum and uploaded the mod for this.

For one I can not use the board mod since it would not work for me.

but I got a few errors.

1. Missing right curly or square bracket at /home/petluver/public_html/yabb/Sources/BoardIndex.pl line 999, at end of line syntax error at /home/petluver/public_html/yabb/Sources/BoardIndex.pl line 999, at EOF Compilation failed in require at YaBB.pl line 143.

But if I reupload the orginial file of boardindex.pl it shows the board fine.

In the category and the board in the admin panel, i got this error
syntax error at /home/petluver/public_html/yabb/Admin/ManageBoards.pl line 1022, near "} else" Compilation failed in require at AdminIndex.pl line 118.

those were the other two errors. I don't know what I did wrong or anything.

You got me exited for a moment as I thought that someone had uploaded a working sub boards mod Grin

I'd definitely recommend that you get to grips with the BoardMod software as you can make any change that you like in the mod file rather than manually and if anything goes wrong it's a simple job to uninstall.

Lets say you do manage to install a mod manualy but you had to make some changes to get it to work. Everything is fine, or so you think, so you manualy install several more mod files.

A few weeks later you discover that something is not working correctly and you suspect that it is caused by that mod that you changed. In most cases it will be a simple job to uninstall the mod if you have added your changes to the mod file. It's so easy to take out more or less code than you should when doing this manually. Also, if the writer of the mod updates his mod then you may have to uninstall the original mod which is easy if added through BoardMod. I learned this lesson the hard way.

As for the  missing right curly or square bracket. Normally you can just add this manually if it's missing? It looks as if you added the code in at the wrong line or accidentally overwrote the right curly or square bracket.

is this for YaBB 2.1 or YaBB 2.2?

I have it running on my YaBB 2.1 board:
http://www.hondosackett.com/yabb/YaBB.pl

It took me over an hour to stich it in by hand (BoardMod does not work on Mac OSX).

Sorry for the delay on this; you could have emailed the request.

I have the files already to go, but it has other mods and a couple I goofed on, but the system works fine as is. I can email you the whole thing if you like in a Zip file.

Here is the mods I have installed allong with the SubForums:

Will this ever be updated for YaBB 2.2.x? It would be much appreciated if so.

I have to echo the question of:

"Will this ever be updated for YaBB 2.2.x? "

or will the current mod work with 2.2?
