@Andi

Funny I just tried this and it works on my board. Maybe someone else can confirm if this "mark all as read" button on the boardindex clears the not read flag on their sub boards...

Hi Andi
are you sure that you have installed 1.0.8 Version? Because there is fixed.

Hi JetLi & Dot-Com,

yes, I'm using 1.0.8 ... the subboards in question are part of a category which is not visible to guests, that's wy I can't show you. But maybe this is part of the problem? Maybe in the piece of code which is triggered when clicking on "mark all as read" subboard with differnt access rights are not considered?

It's not only on the Boardindex, by the way. Also, when I enter the board, where its subboards are listed, clicking on "mark all as read" doesn't effect the marks of the subboards either.

It's not crucial but a bit annoying ...

Andreas

Is there a way to have the the new message icon only appear beside the board that that has the new message in it. For example if the new message is in the parent board then the new message icon is only beside the parent board link and if a sub board has a new message only that sub board will have a new message icon beside it. This would save clicking to enter the parent board only to find out that the new message is in the sub board.  This will also save bandwidth if you can go directly to the board with a new message.

Well This mod is soooo awesome I can't wait till its completed because I had to uninstall it due to the following bugs that are probably already mentioned.

First This mod prevents any board from becoming an announcement board. I had an existing board that I set to be an announcement board and it will not work.

Second Any new board that is created regardless if it is a sub board or not does not show in the recent post info section but it does increment the post count of the board.

I don't want to hound the author of this mod , but I eagerly await an update, continue the great work.

Is it possible to have the sub-boards come after the threads of the board they are contained within?  Or... maybe a method to close/minimize the sub-boards so they don't take up so much room at the top?

hi
sure
in MessageIndex.template

you find 2x
Code
Select All
<!-- Navigation Bar end -->

but you need second one in line 125 and there add after

Code
Select All
<!-- Sub-Board block start, should be left as is -->

<yabb subboardblock>

<!-- Sub-Board block end, should be left as is -->

not tested but should work.  Wink

Ok, maybe I'm misunderstanding, because that change didn't do anything noticeable.

Correct me if I'm wrong.  You said after the second occurrence of
Code
Select All
<!-- Navigation Bar end -->

I added
Code
Select All
<!-- Sub-Board block start, should be left as is -->

<yabb subboardblock>

<!-- Sub-Board block end, should be left as is -->

Is this correct?

That's already pretty much what my MessageIndex template has, Jet Li.  Putting that line in again simply spits out a redundant second line that reads something to the effect of:

Dark and Moody Forums › Fantasy Category (AD&D, D&D, Rolemaster, etc.) › Lands of Mystery
(Moderator: Thomas)
Dark and Moody Forums › Fantasy Category (AD&D, D&D, Rolemaster, etc.) › Lands of Mystery
(Moderator: Thomas)

It does not put the sub-boards beneath the board's regular threads, and it does not close up the sub-board list to one expandable/collapsible line.

However, I have found what I was looking for with your help.  If I move
Code
Select All
<!-- Sub-Board block start, should be left as is -->

<yabb subboardblock>

<!-- Sub-Board block end, should be left as is -->

to show up just before the second occurrence of
Code
Select All
<!-- Navigation Bar start -->

Then I get what I'm looking for.  The sub-boards show up beneath the regular threads.

Thanks for the help.

Hi,

I am new to Yabb and have created a new board successfully but I need sub-boards to complete the build.

I am having a little trouble with it or maybe its my understanding of how to install mods.

I have a working copy of the Yabb forum at:
http://www.leapfrog.it/forum

I aslo downloaded all the Yabb files to my local C drive as I understand that you need to install mods to local files before uploading them.

I have installed Board mod.

I downloaded this sub-board mod and ran the program but got the following errors.

Step 52 ... failed - ERR(1): Search string could not be found

Step 53 ... failed - ERR(1): Search string could not be found

The rest is ok.

So my questions are...how do I fix these errors?

and...

Is my undertsanding of how the process works correct and if so which files does Board mod modify and do I then need to upload them and replace the same files on on the web server with the modified ones?

Thanks JH

With BoardMod, you can view the mod file.  You need to find out what file(s) is/are being edited at steps 52 and 53, and what specific text it is looking for.  Find the difference between your files and what the mod file expects. Sometimes its as easy as using a tab in place of a space at the beginning of a line.  Then you need to modify the mod file to look for specifically what your file reads.  Be careful though, because some changes may need to be made to the next step of the mod file as well.  Like, if you have an alteration from the original file due to another mod you previously installed and that's throwing the 'search for' step off, then you'll want to make sure any 'replace with' steps are including the other mod's code as well.

clear as mud?  Grin

Did all that. Worked fine.

I am having a different problem though. When I add a new sub board it all seems to work ok and shows up in the admin screen as a sub-board of the right parent board I want but when I go to 'return to forum' screen it doesn't appear? I tried logging out and direct URLing my forum as a guest and the sub-board is also not there.

But when I change the parent of the sub-board to a category it shows up.

Any clues?
