I'm just mostly concerned for those users of YaBB who aren't very computer literate.  If they've struggled enough to add a few mods, then find out that all that is undone when YaBB fixes some bugs, they may be turned off of YaBB completely.

With your help on here, I've managed to upgrade, but it took me several hours of preparation.  Granted, I'm no rocket scientist but I have been using YaBB since 1.2, and have several classes in pursuit of an IT degree.  I can only imagine how frustrated some people might be feeling after this fix.

For people with unmodded boards the upgrade is painless and easy.
Of course for modded boards the changes are bigger but I think that people that are capable of modding a board can also upgrade and remod it without too much of a hassle.
As Corey wrote 2.0 to 2.1 wasn't major but contained a lot of bugs fixed and that is the main reason for upgrading.

The YaBB Team is proud to announce the first update to YaBB 2:

YaBB 2.1

This release is a highly recommended update...

Anybody else find it ironic that this post was made on a YaBB 1 Gold - SP1.2+ forum?   Wink

Seriously though, love the products (both YaBB and the mods) and have been using them for several years -- keep up the good work

No, considering the amount of modifications Michael did on his original YaBB 1.1 I think it would be foolish to convert to YaBB2.2, as long as you keep up with the security fixes on YaBB and are a programmer, a good running YaBB1.x is just as good Wink

I'm really surprised how well it performs compared to Y2 Smiley

I'm not Michael, as your board is lean in mods and features compared to Y2 Wink
A basic 1.x board with only few modifications will perform just as fast as Y2, will be less secure and less feature rich, and will have some functions that will kill the CPU like searching.

Other then that there is not so much wrong with Y1 code, that's why we decided to base Y2 on that same code and only optimize it highly Wink
