Did you create a temporary quiz, and then delete it?

No, not at first but then I did delete the one I created to try to get it to work after it didn't.

I just ask because I once ran into a problem where people couldn't find quizzes because somehow there had ended up being an extra return in one of the data files, and that messed things up. As far as I could guess it had appeared because the person had made a test quiz, deleted it, then tried to carry on. Simply removed the extra return (or possibily it was added one) and everything worked fine.

Bob, did the quiz data files appear in the Variables Directory? If so, is your username in the quiz results file as having taken the quiz that it said you had taken? There is also a quizlog for each member in the Members directory.

I would try increasing the required number of questions from 1 to 2, and try creating a new quiz and see if it works. If not, I'll IM you my email address if you could then email me those quiz data files so we can see what it's doing. Smiley

Ok. I have deleted all the quiz related files other than the pl files ie quiz.txt quiz2.txt and membersname.quiz.
I have found out why I can't take the quiz that a member put up, it is because he didn't put in any answers!  Embarrassed
There is still the problem of members only being able to see their own quizzes. Admin can see them all though.

Ok I have it sorted. Although I changed the minimum nomber of question through admin, it did not change it in quiz.pl. When I changed this to 1, it worked fine.
Thanks for the help and thanks again for writing all this good stuff.

That is strange, it should have picked that up from the settings in admin. I'll have a look at that soon and see if there's a problem there. Mind if I ask your server OS Bob?

It's great to see the efforts being made to improve this mod & want to thank everyone involved.

I haven't installed it yet as my main consideration is to have educational quizzes relating to health & medicine issues and need to add a comment explaining the answer to each question which I don't think has been implemented yet.

Anyway, I'm sure you guys will find a way  Smiley

I've actually got some time to work on it this week I think, that should be a relatively easy addition, again, I think. Wink

You've made my day!! hopefully in the near future I can drop the time consuming way in which I post a weekly quiz with people leaving me an IM with there answers and then emailing them there score and correct answers.

You'd have to edit the data files manually. Download them in ascii of course. Edit in notepad or your favorite text editor.

In Variables/ you have quizresult files, find the appropriate one and remove the line of the score of your user you wish to retake the quiz.

Then in the Members/ Directory, you'll have membername.quiz which lists all the quizzes and scores they got, remove the appropriate line, and then a membername.quizlog as well, which lists each question/answer/given answer of each quiz the user took. Remove the appropriate lines there as well. Save them and reupload them in ascii.

That should work for ya. Not easy but it's a way.

I said never mind because I thought I would edit a few files but I might be missing one still.  Let me look again.
