This is something for the mod writers who don't have the webspace to offer their mods. But don't make your files bigger than 1500kb Wink

Great update but wouldn't it be better to have .txt files too so people can attach updates or corrections ???

this is a bit more than just a small mod since a lot of this board has changed. Since I am working on serveral other projects right now (bm 3.0 for example) I won't do it now.

I can't get mine working! Sad

I get this error when I click submit:

CGI Error
The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. The headers it did return are:

CGI open of tmpfile: Permission denied
Compilation failed in require at D:\web\bwdl.net\html\cgi-bin\yabb\YaBB.pl line 36.

I am running a windows2k box with YaBB SP1

Can anyone help me?

Take the line out of your adminedit.pl that says $TEMP::TMPDIRECTORY or something along those lines, and take it out of your settings.pl file, too. Then try it. Your server isnt giving you access to the temp files for some reason.

I'm not sure if it's ignorance or apathy, but I don't know and I don't care.

Actually, I take that answer back. The exact OPPOSITE is what you need to do to fix it.

Your server isn't giving you permission to directly access temp files. What is WEIRD is that I swear I put this line of code I'm about to give you into the newest File Attachment mod, but when I just checked, it wasn't there. I guessed I didn't remember when I was packaging it. Anyway, it's now included in the downloadable version here, and here's what you can do instead of reinstalling the whole thing.

Open AdminEdit.pl
Find this line:
Code
Select All
\$upload_dir = '$upload_dir';      # The absolute path to the directory where your attachments are to be stored (without trailing '/' )

Add this right after it:
Code
Select All
\$TempFile::TMPDIRECTORY = '$upload_dir';  # Puts temporary files used into same folder as attachments to prevent permission problems

Now upload your AdminEdit.pl, go in to Forum Preferences, and just click "Save" again (you dont need to change any settings).

Now try to attach something. Hopefully that will give fix the problem.

Anybody want to take three guesses on who's board I got file attachments to work on? Wink

I think in the next version of FA mod I might make it required that the file attachments directory be named "yabbattachments" and then have YaBB automatically figure out what the path to it is. Not getting paths exactly right seem to be the #1 reason people can't get the mod the work. Or do it like newspro... have it autofilled out the first time they try to use it, but they can override (or if "yabbattachments" isnt found, leave it blank to be filled out by user instead of auto-fill).

Don't know why I'm tell YOU all this... anyway. G'day. =)
