Thanks. Have the new menu "Board templates". Sorry as I thought I was missing files per your BoardTemplate installation instructions.

Thanks.

Need some help...

Installed BoardTemplate and it is functioning. Created a new template, a cut down version of the default template.
For some reason, I get an internal server error when trying to run the .cfg file to install it. How can I install it manually? So far, in cgi-bin/yabb2/templates, I added directory forumtemplate. In that directory, I added the new template, forumtemplate.html.

add this to the top of YaBB.pl, right after the shebang line.

Code
Select All
use CGI::Carp 'fatalsToBrowser';

Then tell me the new error message.

Same problem. Am running Apache on Windows 2000. I am trying to execute the cfg from within the new template directory. Funny thing is that if I just tried and open forumtemplate.html I also get the server error so I don't think it has anything to do with the .cgf. I looked both in the Apache error log and site error log and nothing logged.
I think it may be a problem with permissions but not sure as everything else works. Will look into this further but in the meantime, is there a way for me to manually add a new template???

I believe that the forum will automatically recognize the .cfg file once you enter the edit template section in the Admin Center.

I personally have never added templates using the .cfg file, however.

You are 100% correct. It showed up in the "Edit Template". It does not show up however in the new BoardTemplate listings. Just shows "Forum Default" in the drop down menu!

Can a user change to your new template in their profile? That's the criteria for it displaying within the Board Templates menu.

Yes they can. I logged on a user and have that option. How do I remove it?

That's out of the scope of this mod. If a user can choose the template, then the Board Templates should be able to use it.

Wow. It shows up now in the Board Template!! It did not show up until I logged on as a user and actually changed profile to the new template! It's like it had to be actually used once.
Am totally happy that it is working so will not persue why! Wasted enough of your time.
Thanks you very much for working with me on this.

YaBB only pulls in the templates when it needs to, I believe.

Anyway, glad that it's working. Smiley

I posted the following on the Yabb forum but now think I should have posted it here:

I installed BoardTemplate mod on my forum. The reason being is that I wanted all the individual forums to have less information and a smaller sized top container than the home page. Also, that particular forum name is now displayed for each individual forum.
I did see a problem though. A user in the "Options" page of his profile has the ability to select one of these other new templates. This will cause all the forum pages including the home page to be incorrect. Since I couldn't find an option in the admid to disallow this, I commented out the following lines in profile.pl:

    $yymain .= qq~<tr class="windowbg">
        <td width="320" align="left"><b>$profile_txt{'814'}</b></td>
        <td align="left"><select name="usertemplate">$drawndirs</select></td>
      </tr>~;

The "Options" page now does not give this option to the user and everything seems to be working fine.
What I would like to know is will this cause any other problems that I am not seeing or aware of???"

Maybe you should add this mod if you can't find a problem with it. I am worried about the new templates not showing up originally in the board template page until I actually changed one in the user profile. Guess this will need to be tested.

Bob

I told you before that such a prevention is beyond what I wanted to accomplish with this mod, and I can't really help you.

However, I can tell you that it will do what you want, probably without any problems. The only problem that is lurking is if you want to add another template that the users should be able to select.

Thanks.
I that happens I will have to modify the script to only display selected templates. Shouldn't be a problem.
