I have a problem with this Mod.

I've installed it as per the instructions under YaBB 2.1. When I create a new post, I do indeed have the two pull-down lists of Math & Greek characters.

But when I select a character from either list.....nothing happens. The character does not get inserted into the post.

I've tried installing the Mod twice now, with the same results.

Assuming it is I who have done something wrong, can anybody tell me what the problem might be and how to fix it? I'd really like to use this Mod as it's something my members have been requesting.

Many thanks for any help.

Andy.

@AndyTheAstronomer - did you remember to: Quote:
Before applying this mod you must move the ubbc.js file from the /yabbfiles folder to the /Sources folder.
After applying the mod move ubbc.js back to the /yabbfiles folder.

and then upload the modded ubbc.js file to your yabbfiles folder?

Hi Carsten,

Many thanks for writing this Mod....it's great.

Yes, I did remember to move the .js file.

Any other ideas?

(Don't worry, it's obviously my fault  - other users seem to be using it withour problems. I am sure it works fine.)

Actually, just to be sure, I'll try installing it again and I'll let you know here if it still doesn't work.

Thanks

Andy

Hi Carsten,

I've tried this Mod three times now, each time following the installation instructions to the letter, but it *still* doesn't work for me. Users can select a character from the pull-down lists but nothing happens: the selected character is not inserted into the post.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Andy

Yes. I've done everything in the instructions. I've even checked the "last modified" date on the files on the server, and they are the ones I've uploaded.

Thanks for your reply

Andy, do you get a js error when you try to insert one of the special characters?

Hi Carsten,

No, no errors at all. Just nothing!

I am correct, aren't I, that all you have to do is to pick a character from one of the pull-downs and it should be inserted? You don't have to do anything more?

I really appreciate you sparing the time to help me with this. I'd really love to get it working for my users!

Many thanks

Andy

Yep - you are correct. Could you PM me the url to your forum?

Will do. Tomorrow, probably, as I've removed the mod when it didn't work - so give me time to re-upload the files. Many thanks.

Carsten,

You are not going to believe this. I re-uploaded Post.pl, doing exactly the same as I did before, and......your Mod works. I have no explanation for that at all. The finger is pointing at me, obviously, but, as I said, when I uploaded Post.pl before, I did check that the version on the server was the one I'd uploaded.

Anyway, all is working now.

I'd like to say a big "thank you" on behalf of myself and my forum members for a)writing a great Mod and b) taking the time to help me.

Much appreciated.

Andy

I've read through these posts, and so far haven't been able to find a solution to why mine doesn't work.

I've checked the java file, it was moved, edited and then put back. I get no java errors, my files are modified dirctly in the server directory so there's no chance of having uploaded in the wrong format etc.
Everything else works, no errors, the mod shows up but when I select one of them I get no characters in the edit window.
