YaBBForum.com released SP1.3
Apr 7th, 2003 at 5:06am
Print Post
YaBBforum.com released a new version of their forum software called YaBB SP1.3

Quote:
Download the full release OR mod package from http://www.yabbforum.com/downloads.php.

This version, SP 1.3, fixes problems that were caused by SP 1.2 or were not found/fixed in SP 1.2. These include many bugs, a few layout fixes, a few security fixes, and a major improvement to the speed of loading actions.

This is considered a *critical update*, and it is recommended that everyone upgrade.

Complete change log is provided in the download.

Major changes include:
- More javascript vulnerabilities removed
- Deleting members from profile or admin center fixed
- Removing notifications fixed
- Cookie header fix for some servers
- Some more yabbc improvements added
- More layout improvements/fixes
- Increased speed using separate action list

Corey Chapman, YaBB Project Leader and Administrator, wrote.

So my advice is to update and enjoy the new version Cheesy Wink

Thx to all who helped finding and fixing bugs!
Thx for all the reports and thx to all testers.

That's about the only wise answer available right now.

PLEASE WAIT for the modwriters to make their mods SP1.3 compatible and do not try to install older mods as the errors are due to code changes in the new version.
About 90% of the SP1.1 mods WILL NOT work in SP1.3, for SP1.2 mods the rating is slightly higher.

So please have patience with us Grin

Please check the beta board for updated mods.  That is generally the first place you will find them.

Before we all start rushing about making all our mods compatible, are we sure SP1.3 is the final version for a while? or is SP1.4 going to be released next week?

we're sure ( well to 99,98873 %; if you find 10 serious bugs we might come out with a new release)

next release will be SP2 - and this release will be much bigger and more incompatible with most mods Wink

Well for that matter even SP1.3 is a crime with this fancy new SubList.pl, so more incompatible means total rewriting of the mods perhaps  Grin
Took me longer then expected and only three of my mods now bear the [SP1.3] tag in the beta board.

DONE SOFAR
- External Referer Security Mod V1.1
- Admin Color Enhancement V1.3
- YaBB Auctions V1.3

I'd say it's safe.  This is the first release in my recollection that has had over 1,000 downloads within the first 24 hours of release and NO complaints.

This means SP2 will be the next version (assuming the above stays true). And as said, this is a much larger release that will take longer to make and fully test.  It will also include some popular mods, so there will be a few less to rewrite, but those that need to be will probably need to be totally rewritten (sorry, but true).

You have a while to get SP1.3 mods made before starting SP2 mods Grin

Just an FYI, up to 99% of SP1.x mods won't work with SP2 when it's out... but by that time you won't care about the mods Wink.
