Curious question. As I myself am obviously a bloody newbie here, I have found an instance of two mods that uhm... well are similar?
Earlier today I downloaded the
addsmilies2final.zip
but in this thread, I see
addsmilies21.zip
Which version is more uptodate? The reason I ask is because while trying to do my VERY first mod (obvious huh?) usint the BoardMod 2.5.2 assistant (I am definately no perl expert here) I found I too got stuck on step five of the installation of the mod.
Currently the Board Mod has addsmilies2final.zip in its proper place. I also put smilies.pl in sources directory and smilies.txt in variables directory and put the .gif files in public_html/YaBBImages directory.
Started to use BoardMod, and it failed on step five.
It was looking for the following in the Sources\YaBBC.pl
$message =~ s/\Q?!?\E/\<img border=0 src=$imagesdir\/huh.gif\>/g;
I opened YaBBC.pl with Source Edit and found the following:
$message =~ s/\Q?!?\E/\<img border=\"0\" src=\"$imagesdir\/huh.gif\" alt="Huh">/g;
Immediately I notice the addition of
" alt="Huh". Seeing as *I* have never really messed with perl scripts, and attempting to use a gobetween application [BoardMod] to do this work for me, could someone give me a enlightening direction to go?
I will be the first to admit I am nervous on moding anything, but this
old dog really would like to learn new tricks. SHE just happens to be a very leary nervous old dog.
Thanks for your assistance in advance.
