I've uploaded v1.4 with the errors you mentioned fixed.

would just like to mention that the sidebar actually works on IE 5.1 on a mac aswell. however the Javascript link doesn't work

what you need to do is make sure your explorer bar is visible, select the page holder tab, and drag the link for the opera version to to the sidebar. et voila, it works.

however, it doesn't open links in the main window, it opens a new one. I wouldn't know how to go about fixing this.

thought you might like to know Smiley

Great work! at last a mod that does something to the browser that actually works on a mac Wink

Note: I've not actually installed it, just tested it out on here...

EDIT: switching the view to "Links Only" solves the opening in new window problem, makes it work as advertised.
Also the page remains there after you quit and restart IE. No modding required.

Shocked Wow - that was quick!  Shocked

Someone that has a .reg file that works with W2K / W-XP (or is it IE6 that makes the error)

I guess they changed a couple of things for the mac version... Undecided

That's because you used the opera link. Opera needs a different target for the link than IE and Mozilla.

Righty ho, thought that maybe the case. would it be at all possible to provide a non JavaScript link to the Mac IE version of it on your sidebar.php page? just so we don't have to figure out to type &type=IE at the end of the URL for the sidebar, and then drag that to the sidebar.

They changed a lot of things in the mac version, no worries, I'm just suprised that any part of it works at all! Smiley

EDIT: the Mozilla and Opera sidebars work as advertised in Mozilla 1.2 and Opera 6 on the Mac Smiley

I do not have XP my self, but it was reportd that it did not work wit XP earlyer in this thread. (by Eagle_f90)
I use W2K/IE6 and the reg key that I need to change for the sidebar to work is:

Code
Select All
"Search Bar"="www.yoursite.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?action=sidebar&type=IE"

and this is in the branch:
ernet Explorer\Main]

OK, I found a way of making the changes work on my computer (W2K-pro on IE6 SP1)
Download the attached file, edit the line witch say:
Code
Select All
Search_Page=http://www.yourserver.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?action=sidebar&type=IE

to whatever suites your setting/server.

rename the file to what ever you want but make the suffix ".ins", Run the file.

NB:
If this works you will first get a warning message about changing the comp's network settings, then you have to choose a "device" for the setting (witch does not mater), then you wil get a warning message that the new settings did not install correctly (this means that you did not install a new dialer) Then open IE and push the "Search" button.

NB2: You probably have to have admin rights on W2k, NT4 or XP to be allowed to do this...

I have not tested this on any other computer than mine, but it shuld be safe to run this on any computer, but do not alter any other field in this file, as it is a extremly powerful file on windows systems...

I'm most interested in knowing if this workes with a computer without a modem/isdn-card or other "dialup" device (a pure broadband win box with only a network-adapter)
I think this will work on any Win system with IE5.5 or higher, as this is a filetype witch ISP's use to configure WinBoxes...

Any word on putting a regular link to the IE sidebar, without the Javascript, so mac users can use the sidebar here, on sidebar.php? This seemed like as appropriate a place as any to mention it again Smiley
