You can find our brandnew irc channel at:
host: irc.cyberarmy.com
channel: #BoardMod ( surprise, he? Wink )

or simply find the IRC Java Applet on the right site of our main page!

it's mainly for BoardMod - support purposes, discussion about mods and the BoardMod program.
...but sure it's also for chit chat...  Grin
For all other questions regarding YaBB which have nothing to do with Mods or BoardMod plz use the channel #YaBB on the same server!

i hope most of our more experienced ppl ( mod writers, testers, etc ) will visit the channel often so they can help others, talk about programming things or just get feedback and new ideas about mods!

visit us often and have fun  8)

Okay, and it's no point in begging for ops. You won't get it.

The general IRC guideline:
Be polite! Don't be unfair to others.
Don't repeat. Your question has been noticed. And behave! Flooders will just gain a kick, eventually a kickban.
if u were banned please contact Michael Prager, T-Master or me(krikkert). !perhaps! we'll unban u. You are usually banned for a reason.

BoardMod Questions to -> Michael Prager & T-Master
Mod questions -> Anybody with voice or higher Smiley
YaBB questions -> #YaBB Wink

A voice is signified with a + and denotes a person with fair enough competence within mods to help others.

Halfops is signified with a % and is usually given to mods. A halfop can kick/ban people, change the topic and voice others.

Ops is signified with a @ and is only given to administrators and the likes. An op can give others halfop/op/voice, can kick/ban, change channel modes, change the topic, and usually has access to all the ChanServ options.

NOTE: The OP is ALWAYS right. Trust us in having the better judgement, we have experience from previous situations.

Current OPs: Krikkert(Main IRC responsible) (NO), Dave Baughman(BoardMod Admin), Michael Prager(Main BoardMod admin) (GE) and T-Master(BoardMod Programmer) (GE)
Current HalfOPs: Juvenall "switch" Wilson(EN), Ikari-Kun(GE)
Current Voices: GodRX, Spikecity

NOTE:
(GE): speaks german
(NO): speaks norwegian, scandinavian
(FR): speaks French

All ops/voiced speak english as a requirement.

* Dave Baughman needs to route his IRC port back to his computer.

I'm not sure if it's ignorance or apathy, but I don't know and I don't care.

Okay, apparently my internal IP address happened to reset to the value the IRC port is routed too last time we had a power outage (lucky). So someone get in the channel and remind me how to heck to use IRC. heh.

The easyest way is to download an Mirc client. http://www.mirc.com/ then the only thing you have to do is to fill out the fields with the server settings and to click on connect Grin

perl -e 'print $i=pack(c5,(41*2),sqrt(7056),(unpack(c,H)-2),oct(115),10);'

;D  Just wanted to let you know we have set up a IRC network dedicated for YaBB to use at irc.hobbygab.net.  We are currently Beta testing a mod that should be released soon and you guys are welcome to use the Network.

Thanks

Just as a note, might want to put in the post that the #YaBB channel is available for support questions regarding YaBB (i.e. not related to mods or BoardMod). Edit: Thx for updating it. Smiley

@Capt: Thanks for the offer, but we've already started using the Cyberarmy network.

I seriously think you should have a deep second thought about that. The YaBB IRC Network has been under development for over 5 months now and the thread here on boardmod about this new network has been very popular with 168 replies and over 2000 views.
It's meant to be a network dedicated only for YaBB and for all YaBB communities out there. There's also mod for beta testing that adds that eIRC java client (you seem to use) on any YaBB forum making it perfect combination with forum. I'm not sure how many boards are beta testing this network at the moment but I'm sure it will be very popular as soon as the final version will be released. The number of stable servers is also increasing.

As an Advanced IRCer I'd like to point out that YaBB IRC Network is also using propably the best IRC Daemon out there.

With this background I don't see any reasons why shouldn't official YaBB and BoardMod support channels also be within the same network where all the YaBB communities will sooner or later have their IRC channels?

Regards,
Teemu Suhonen (just one guy who has become fond of YaBB IRC Network and looks foward to it)

My great wish list:
Quote inside Quote! (and I'll be satisfied)

Well, I share some, but not all of Teme's views.

I think that maybe all of YaBB's support boards should be on an YaBB dedicated server BUT, what effects does this already have when we have made ourselves comfortable? I don't see anything wrong with having the YaBB and BoardMod channels on another server, as mIRC is perfectly capable of handling several servers with Windows, and I'm sure *nix and Mac clients can do the same. Also, any wise admin would use IRC instead of the applet, since it grants you more control. Also, I personally feel that mIRC is simply easier to understand than an applet, even though the applet is easier to find.

~Christer, probably as much a fan of CyberArmy as Teemu is of YaBBIRC.
