4 questions:

(1) If I install this mod will I no longer be able to see who is currently on the board on the bottom where it says, "Users Online"?

(2) Instead of using this mod, if I periodically go in and delete the contents of my click log file, will that accomplish pretty much the same thing in terms of speed increase?

(3) When you delete the contents of the click log file, do you do it directly from your ftp program, or do you download it and delete the data in notepad and upload back up?

(4) If I opt to increase my speed by deleting the contents of the log file rather than installing the mod, will I also loose the ability to view current members on line?

A big thank you Smiley

Okay, I've had this mod installed since the very beginning, so heres my answers to your questions.

1) No, you still see everyone who's online in the same place. it is unaffected.

2) I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think it will, as it will still have to actually open the file, rewrite it, and close it again. which is where the slowness comes from. as I understand it, this mod's stops YaBB writing to the file, thus speeding it up considerably.

3) you could upload a blank file with the same name, and overwrite your existing one. I'd prefer to download the log though, that way there is a backup. but because of the answer to 2, I don't think you'll be doing it anway!

4) No, Deleting the log file won't stop YaBB showing whos online (as far as I know)

Hope it helps Smiley

It would either just create a new file called clicklog.txt, or crash if you did that.

This mod removes the code that writes to the log file, so even if the logfile isn't there, YaBB still attempts to write to it, thus slowing the board down.

If it was as simple as that to get a speed boost, there wouldn't be a mod for it.

AFAIK it works on SP1.1, it was the first mod I installed on my board, and it worked fine. although I have to install all mods manually, and thus can't remember if there was any problems witht he search strings  Undecided

I Think it's the advanced memberview plus mod they were talking about, which allows you to see what each user is doing on your board. (i.e, they are reading thread xxxx, or editing their profile, or whatever) I'm not 100% sure of what it does and doesnt do since I don't use it.

I'm sure it's not the whoson mod though Smiley
