Thank you for yet another useless contribution to this thread ??
How are we supposed to help if we do not have a clue what you are talking about ??

Sorry if this offends you but I get a little irritated by the just "HELP it does not work" only messages.

At least give us something to go on.

And mr moderator ??

This is the f*cking tutorial board not the "help I have a problem" board ???
So what the hell is a 4 page thread about this topic still doing open here ???

Edited:
Sorry,
I'm in a very bad mood right now.

Nothing to add here Smiley

Okeh, I tried all the stuff you guys/girls gave me...

I use http://www.recongamer.com ... that runs my site.

My site is http://specialists.recongamer.com

Everything works but the avatar problem.

Any ideas?

have you set $facesurl? # The server path to your avatars (userpics) folder? Note: must NOT contain http/www, must be like: /home/jimbob/yabb/forumimages/avatars

Tell me if this helps ya Smiley

Yes, or use a nifty script called Perl Diver. It's very helpful sometimes Smiley

Code
Select All
unless(0) { stab("LoonyPandora"); next; }

Alright.  So I've got an issue for ya.

I know I have the correct path to my avatars.  I obtained it from my hosting company and it has been working.  Now, all of the sudden *without me changing anything* it isn't working.

The avatars are still showing up in the posts, but when I click on "Profile" up at the top, I get the error message:

Can't open directory (/home/virtual/site145/fst/var/www/html/public_html/yabbimages/avatars)! Please inform the administrator of this forum that the $facesdir setting must be fixed immediately.

What's up with that?  Why did it all of the sudden quit working.  And more importantly, how can I fix it?

Thanks much.

Did you get this information from you host recently? Maybe they changed something which requires to alter the path. That would at least explain why it suddenly stopped working.

I've sent the hosting company an email regarding the situation.  However, they're on the west coast and I have to be patient while I wait for them to get their arses to work.

I'll let you know what I find out.

If your forum is residing in cgi-bin/YaBB/YaBB.pl you can simply back through the directories to get your absolute path like this...

../../yabb/images/avatars

The first ../ takes you down to cgi-bin and the second takes you to the main diretory. Just open your site in ftp and count how many times you have to hit the back button to get to the first directory of the avatars path from the yabb.pl. Then put 1 '../' for each time you hit back.

Edited:
Not sure if it I made it clear to then put the ../../yabb/images/avatars in the settings for the absolute path to your avatars.

The self-criticism of a tired mind is suicide.

Quoted that from the YaBB SP 1.3.1 Subs.pl file! Wink
