For over 7 years i have been coming here to find answers to difficult questions. I had an account before this one but screwed it up and had to start a new one sometime back then, this account has been over 7.
I want to offer some praise.
90% of everywhere else in the world i ask simple or complex questions, they try to make you feel stupid or just never respond. You know, making the answer so obtuse or just touching on the exact tangent of a solution. Making each question like asking a genie for a wish, better think clearly before you ask.
Never here,, not that when i was here everyday, i didn't ask a few simply stupid questions, that made people laugh.
I think giving straight answers to technical questions is a sign of self confidence.
Years ago, I managed a group of 30 some techs and engineers. Just when you thought you had them trained, some idiot would be telling the client BS. Just because they did not know the answer. I could scream.
The words, "I don't know" are pretty hard for some of us.
When i first started coming here, lots of my questions were not even about YaBB. They were about Perl, ... So it was the People, not the topic. The people, the people here.
I remember polite, straight forward answers to really stupid, ignorant questions. Even when i made someone 'Bristle' with some stupid question, statement or other. Even then.. Polite and helpful. I will never forget you guys.
I started studying the Internet in 1999, but have coded since the 70's. Before Microsoft.
So, i know how engineers should act.
Maybe it is just chance and i have not been to all or even a lot of the internet places., but...
This is the best, nicest, most intelligent and helpful group of engineers, i have met in the world.
Thanks Michael and to everyone else.
