ver. 1.2 - improved wysiwyg editor. All editor updating now based on events rather that the old timer based updating. Much less 'flicker' and much faster. Now buttons indicates when the cursor is inside a node, and 'node select' links are shown in the status bar. Added background color button. All changes since ver. 1.0 are in ChatCE.pl, ChatCE.lng and a number of new image files - no need for un-install / re-install.

New zip package attached to first post.

Oups - small glitch in ChatCE.pl fixed - no big deal - just forgot about arrow navigation in text. Same version number. New zip in first post.

@ chillipepper - try open your Settings.pl  and search for:
Code
Select All
########## Advanced Tabs ##########

after that line you'll find an array of tab id's - see if there's two instances of 'chat' and if delete one of them.

The problem is that in 2.4 there's no resonable way of adding tabs via mod, so we have to find 'creative' ways around it. In this case the mod step 20 adds a push command to the Settings.pl file to add the Chat tab id to the array - meaning first time the Settings.pl is rewritten the tab is added to the array and the push command is overwritten (dissapear). That's why you got the error when trying to uninstall. The reason for the double tab is that you should only upload the modded Settings.pl the first time you install ChatCE. Hope this will help you.

Hi Carsten,
Many thanks for this great mod. I installed it last week on a test forum and it works well. The exception is with one member on IE8 who doesn't see anything in the main window. Not even his own posts, although the rest of us can see his.
When he starts chat he sees the 'refresh' arrows (See pic). whereas the rest of us see the red cross.

Any ideas would be most welcome.

Tony

Screen grab is from my pc!

This is really strange Tony.

I've been running through the code over and over and there is no way on earth he should be able to have the 'Start Auto Update' button as default when entering the chat.

Does he get any javascript errors and what happens if he clicks on the auto-update button?

Hi Carsten,
Thanks for the quick response.
Quote:

I'm afraid it appears he may have clicked on the cross but had forgotten, so that part is not true.

Here is today's storyline:
Davie: Quote:
Today at 12:10pm Hi Tony
The thick plottens. I open chat and it has the red cross. I can now see all the conversations but when I type and click add nothing is added. Last entry I see is Naturist-Couples short reply this morning at 10.06 am.

Me: Quote:
Today at 12:31pm Davie,
I have added a line at 12.24pm. (See pic attached)
I assume you did log-out of the test forum & have now logged back in, so does that make my line as well as your last entries visible?

When you click add, does the red 'X' change to the 'Start Auto Update' (Green arrows) because it shouldn't?

If by chance it does, click and see if your last becomes visible.

Tony

Davie: Quote:
Today at 2:27pm Tony
I logged out and have just re-logged in.

I still cannot see any of the entries I made today.

When I click "ADD" the cross remains. I've also tried to add whilst the arrows are showing. The screen goes blank for a moment re-loads then the cross is showing but no updated message. This happens when the cross is showing too.

Sorry I do just hope I'm not doing anything stupid. It's frustrating for us all, still I suppose that what's a beta test is all about.

Dave

Me: Quote:
Today at 3:11pm If you log in here again before 7.30 this evening, please indicate the last chat message (inc. time) that you can see.
Many thanks,
Tony

Davie: Quote:

Same here - cya.
 at 10.06 am

There have been no java errors, as far as he can remember.
I have attached another screen grab, which was taken after Davies post of 3.28pm.

One other thing I will mention, yesterday morning he could still see two messages I had posted the day before. Nobody else could see them at that time, as chat was set to remove messages after 12 hours.

I hope that gives you a clue,
Tony

@Tony - could it be that Davie has changed his browser settings for checking for new content from the default 'Automatic'?

Carsten,
After a number of conflicting PM's from Davie, he now say's it's working ok.

Your idea was exactly right.

Very many thanks,

Tony

I'm having one problem and I'm sure it's my forums theme/layout

I can't seem to figure out get a background color for in the boxes?

Yep - must be something with your template. If you PM me the url to your test forum and login details for a test account i could have a look.

@ fpsbrian - it's the body background image that is causing that. Please try the ChatCE.pl file attached to this post.

Edited:
oups! wrong .pl file - attached new.
