Extended Profiles v2.3 for YaBB2.2

Print Post
Wasn't as difficult as I thought to convert this mod to YaBB 2.2 after all. The only real code change was the way the fatal_error() sub is been called. Note: this is still beta, as I only tested the base functionality on a fresh Y2.2 installation. Use with caution and report back if you find any problems with this.

What this mod does: It allows you do add an unlimited number of additional fields to user profiles.

Note: a YaBB1-compatible version of this mod can be found here.
Note: a YaBB2.0/2.1-compatible version of this mod can be found here.

Features:
  • unlimited profile fields
  • additional fields can be displayed on viewprofile, memberlist and post pages
  • easily add, edit, reorder and remove fields in admin center
  • 10 different field types:
      - textbox
      - textarea
      - dropdown list
      - radiobuttons
      - checkbox
      - date
      - email
      - url
      - spacer
      - image
  • each field has the following settings available:
      - active
      - comment/description
      - required/visible on registration
      - visible in ViewProfile (including limitation for special users and/or groups!)
      - visible in Posts (including limitation for special users and/or groups!)
      - visible in Posts as Popup (including limitation for special users and/or groups!)
      - visible in Memberlist (including limitation for special users and/or groups!)
      - switch for editable by user or admin only
  • special settings for a couple of types:
      - limit length
      - input box width
      - force numberic value
      - default value
      - allow ubbc
      - unlimited options for dropdown lists and radiobuttons
      - different spacer types (<br> and <hr>)
      - max width & height for image
      - only allow specific image extensions
  • highly compatible with other mods
  • easy integration into your own code
  • global moderators support
  • converter for extended YaBB1 profiles included

Installation Instructions:
  • Install the mod
  • upload ALL modified files
  • upload ExtendedProfiles.pl to your Sources folder, in ASCII mode, chmod 666
  • upload ExtendedProfiles.lng to your Languages/English folder, in ASCII mode, chmod 666
  • upload extended_profiles_fields.txt to your Variables folder, in ASCII mode, chmod 666
  • upload extended_profiles_order.txt to your Variables folder, in ASCII mode, chmod 666
  • if upgrading from Y1, run the converter (see FAQs below for details)

FAQs:
Q: How do I convert my old extended profiles to the new format?
A: Open the admin center and goto "Installed Mods->Edit Profile Fields". Scroll all the way down to the converter input form. You'll find detailed instructions there.

Q: How can I allow global moderators to edit profiles or to access the Extended Profiles admin area?
A: In the admin center, goto "Global Moderator Access". There check "Allow Global Moderators Access to edit User Profiles". Then press "save". Now "ext_admin" should show in the list too. Check that to allow GMods to edit the profile fields too. Press "save" again to apply the changes.

Hi,

very nice! We need this mod. Installation was
easy, but...

...we need to see the extended profil fields
in admin approval preview of new members...

Edit:
Is it possible to take the user-(ext)-profliles
from YaBB2.1? I think the convert-function is
for converting from YaBB1.* to YaBB2.*?

You don't need the convert function to move from YaBB2.0/2.1 to 2.2. Just copy the profiles to the new install.

Hi,
I didn't used the convert function and the
profiles are in the new install. But some
Members have wrong profiles now. But it
may be, that's a Problem with my Installation,
I will test it later on a other 2.2.

You work on first Problem sometimes?

Make sure that you also copy the Variables\extended_profiles_fields.txt and Variables\extended_profiles_order.txt files from your old install.

The mod itself works great, but there seem to be some layout problems in the admin settings.

The way it ended up looking on my screen, it took me a couple minutes to figure out which options were which.

Currently using Y2.3 With no mods (though that will hopefully change, soon).

Hi,
I do not code in Perl, my natural language being JSP/Servlets  Smiley But I run a board, and on installing the mod I got an untrapped exception, basically saying that it could find the ExtendedProfiles.pl. The path it was looking was: http://boardurl.com/forum/Admin/..//http://boardurl.com/forum/Sources/ExtendedPr...
(I checked the permissions... it was 666)

So I opened AdminIndex.pl  Wink and then traversed to AdminSubList.pl. I changed the director mappings to make it search in the current directory, and copied the ExtendedProfiles.pl in Admin folder too... It works now... but would like to know, what went wrong with my installation??

Thanks  and Cheers!

It might be a server configuration problem. I have a similar problem on my local webserver with the most recent apache version. Didn't find a fix for it yet though.

Am I being a bit thick here (quite possible!), but where exactly do I find these options. I have followed the installation instructions but cant find any reference to this mod except in the 'InstalledMods' area?
