Here's how you start installing a MOD

1. To install the mod, follow these instructions and or go to the link that goes to that post.
On your computer and in Windows Explorer, go to C:\Program Files\BoardMod\Mods, make a new folder called Y2.1 (I name & date my folders for different installs... like Y2.1 09.28.06).

Then go to the YaBB 2 Mods category on the BoardMod forum, forage around on the two Y2 boards for the mods you would like and download them to another folder where you can un.zip them.  Then place the appropriate .mod files in your C:\Program Files\BoardMod\Mods\YaBB 2.1 folder you created earlier.

Then restart the BoardMod program and go to the Y2.1 folder and you will see the mods.

Here' s the link with this post.

It doesn't really matter, but I recommend to use v2.5.5 since it's the most up-to-date version.

You should read the first post carefully. If you follow that description, you shouldn't have that problem.

Hey all, im having a problem with BM 2.5.5, now i made a folder called it YaBB 2.1 put the mod files in there open Board Mod, click on the mod file text and it says, there is one file to edit, sources/Profile.pl (so i made path to script the sources/Profile.pl and it found the folder, but not the perl file.... any help?

btw is mod installing just a matter of downloading the "PL" files of your ftp edit and re-upload? is it that simple?

Did you put a downloaded copy of the cgi-bin part in the folder Y2.1 you just created ?

If there is a local copy of the online version it should work and after the mod is applied it is indeed a matter of uploading the changed scripts using FTP.

Nothing to add here Smiley

Well in my Board Mod 2.5.5 folder i have the path like this

C:\Program Files\BoardMod\Mods\YaBB 2.1\cgi-bin\Sources\Profile.pl

Now, when i try to open the Sources\Profile.pl file, it seems to find the folders.... but not the ".PL" files?

Also, all i see is a Manual installation button? thought there was an auto install or something?

Says i have to edit this and edit that......... what gives?

any idea's?

*EDIT*

I, also get this error when i try to edit the file via board Mod

notice something?

it says the path on that error is

C:\Program Files\BoardMod\Mods\YaBB 2.1\cgi-bin\Sources\Sources\Profile.pl

Very weird indeed..... because i only have 1 folder called "Sources"  ???

sry, still new to Board Mod  Tongue

Ok, newbie question here...this will be the first mod I install.

I have a calendar mod that I would like to install.  I am using CPanel and uploaded the files to the server and put them in the proper places, or so I thought, and it isn't showing up when I check under the Admin section?

Do I need to install boardmod on the server and if so how do I do this?

You use the boardmod software with the *.mod file to make changes to the proper files... from the list of changed files, you then upload them to the appropriate directories along with any new files that are included in the zip... some mods require the upload of additional source, language, or other files... they should be in the zip file you downloaded.

Ok, so REALLY stupid question....where do I get the BoardMod software and do I just need that and the file I downloaded or do I also need to download the corresponding files from the server?

Edit, I got the software installed on my machine but it isn't showing Yabb 2.1?  I apologize as I have spread myself thin and really need help.  I have the calendar mod downloaded on my machine but it won't let me see that in the path to script unless that is referring to the Yabb script....if that is the case where do I point it to the mod since it isn't in the list?

The software is here: http://www.boardmod.org/downloads.php

The instructions on how to use it are at the top of this thread.
