SpelChek v2.0 for YaBB 2

SpelChek

This SpelChek mod was ported from the original mod by Max Shanly http://www.linspired.net

You can find the original version for YaBB 1.* here http://www.boardmod.org/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=newssp13;action=display;num=109993866...

I haven't been able to get in touch with Max to get his permission as his site is down at the moment but seeing as its really a product of SpelChek www.spelchek.com and Max reconfigured to fit into YaBB 1.*, I am sure he won't mind

I haven't changed any code just added the relevent parts to fit into YaBB 2

Give it a go and let me know if you get problems, if I have missed anything out for the YaBB 2 standards please point them out so that I can correct them.

Cheers

Si

Hi Simon,

I guess its a fixed english spell checker ? or is it possible to somehow let it use some kind of csv file ?

That would make more sence and it could then get adapted to use every language you want.

It works with spelcheck.com software and only english language support is offered, with banner and therefore ads, don't like it after testing.

Isn,t it possible to whip up a spelchecker that uses, lets say, ms office spell check function or a free office product's spell checker ?

I'll post my reqeust on the request section, see what it brings us.

Its a quick work around instead of cut and paste to word or google spell checker.

I had it working on my old 1.3 board and my members used it all the time. Its not brilliant but until someone can come up with a better solution.

Its there if people want it  Smiley

That’s ok.

I knew you would bring up the language issue.  Cheesy

To be able to use MS words Dictionary would be an excellent way to go but way above my level of skills.

In the same directory that has your index.html or index.htm to show the first page of your site.

When i click Finish Checking, I navigate to the HTML file and I get an error. Is it supposed to be ASCII or Binary? I am confused why it wont work, it's properly CHMOD and the other files were done correctly. The HTML no like me Sad Sad

Hi Windnwaves

Thanks for the mod.  I installed it tonight. Works just fine.

Chronic.... I saved the html file to my yabb templates folder and also got an error. I moved it to the root of my site and it worked.  i.e.  yoursite.com/spellcheker.html

Thanks Smiley

Hi gang,

I just installed this mod, and am having problems.  It runs allright, identifying poorly spelled words and offering corrections, but when you make the correction and click "Finish Checking", it doesn't insert the corrected words into your post.  Instead, I get this on that second window:

Code
Select All
###############################################################################
# Register.pl #
###############################################################################
# YaBB: Yet another Bulletin Board #
# Open-Source Community Software for Webmasters #
# Version: YaBB 2.1 #
# Released: No

Any idea what I might be doing wrong?  Could it have anything to do with the security patch they just issued that I installed?

Hi Imp_In_Training

I have the security patch installed and my spelchek is ok.

I compared what I get with what you get in the windows that popup and here is what they look like

Code
Select All
http://www.eulogia.co.uk/spellcheker.html?id=_xXData/scdata_3278017275&server=ww2

http://darkandmoodyforums.com/spellcheker.html?id=_xXData/scdata_6708892361&server=ww2

http://ww2.spelchek.com/cgi-bin/spelchek.cgi

http://ww2.spelchek.com/cgi-bin/spelchek.cgi

Our links appear to both be correct.

I chmod my spellcheker.html file to 777

No Idea if any of that helps. If you need to see any of my files for comparison then please let me know?  Smiley

I tried something else:

This opens the spell check html settings etc:

http://www.eulogia.co.uk/spellcheker.html

but this doesn't:

http://darkandmoodyforums.com/spellcheker.html

I think your spellcheker.html file is corrupt. I have attached mine here for you to try.
