Images for the news banner area

Hi,
I'm trying to find if it's possible to link to a banner image (locally or www) and add that image to the news.txt file in the Variables folder...
Please email if you know how it can be done, thanks.

Do you know if there's a way of fading the images just as the news fades ? The images are jumping from one to another currently....
