Mods that I found to work!

Well I recently was found doing a little test board and I saw that the following mods seem to work flawlessly with no modification whatsoever:

DaveB's File Attachement Mod 2.3
BHRA's Smart Image Resize Beta 7
dOCda's Add More Membergroups 1.5
My Member Only Tags Mod
My Video Embedding in Posts
Michael Prager's News Script Mod ver 2.0

Those are just the ones that I had available to me.  They all installed without any errors and seemed to function just fine, so if you authored them, I figure your work is already done!

#Cool! I got the second post on this board!*

Just made this sticky, feel free to post old mods that work fine with SP1.4 here.

If you like Split/Splice but it won't install for SP1.4 you have two alternatives:

Split/Splice Plus by Kong (me)
Split/Splice/Copy Anywhere by Astropilot

Mods that, so far, seem to work with SP1.4 that are used at 3DXL are (yes some of them are a bit out of date)...

add more mess icons
addsmilies2 *
adv memberview plus 31b
advanced imbox 21 *
amm sp131 15 *
custom user titles sp1.3
latest topics 2
less pages in message index
mbc2 sp13  *
ModsInstalled sp131
newcalendar3 7a  *
Polls 3 *
quick reply box 13
rebuild index SP13
remove number of posts sp1
search update SP13  *
ssi include SP1.1
Users Online Counter 13
yams 502  *

* - May require some slightly modification to install

I just thought I'd add to the list. Smiley  I have yet to finish testing but see no reason why they wont' work once you install them.

Unfortunately I dont' have links for them but they should be easily found here at BoardMod.

As for any modifications required to install please dont' ask me for them as it is not up to me to release the updates and dont' see myself doing it. Smiley

dOCda's Add More Membergroups 1.5 will not install on my 1.4. I get two errors. Also tried with a fresh install of 1.4, same problem.- Step 3 ... failed - ERR(1): Search string could not be found

-Step 22 ... failed - ERR(1): Search string could not be found

No other mods are installed, or have been installed on this board.
**EDIT ok just tried a manual instsall of the amm mod and there are so many missing strings it is almost funny. How did you guys get this mod working at all? I must be doing something very wrong indeed.

I accidentally left that out of my list.  AMM 1.5 will require you to modify those 2 steps.

They are small modifications that need to be done.  If you dont' know how or what to do then don't try.  Ask and someone will help you. Smiley

Having spent the last 3.5 hours swearing and cursing, I think I could try the modifications, I think the wife just walked out so there's little left to lose.

Could you please point me to some instructions or topic where I can find this out please?

Thank you.

Anybody?

You have to give people time to reply.

You also gotta make me copy and paste things at 5:00 am dont' you... Tongue

Open the .mod file and replace this...

Code
Select All
<search for>
	$img{'admin_func'} = qq~<img src="$imagesdir/admin.gif" alt="$txt{'137'}" border="0"> <font size="1" class="imgbg">$txt{'137'}</font>~;
</search for>

with this...

Code
Select All
<search for>
	$img{'admin_func'} = qq~<img src="$imagesdir/admin.gif" alt="$txt{'137'}" title="$txt{'137'}" border="0"> <font size="1" class="imgbg">$txt{'137'}</font>~;
</search for>

and this...

Code
Select All
<search for>
	$maxsiglen = $FORM{'maxsiglen'} || 200;
	$jrmem = $FORM{'jrmem'} || 50;
	$fullmem = $FORM{'fullmem'} || 100;
	$srmem = $FORM{'srmem'} || 250;
	$godmem = $FORM{'godmem'} || 500;
	$language = $FORM{'language'} || 'english.lng';
</search for>

with this...

Code
Select All
<search for>
	$FORM{'maxsiglen'} =~ s/\D//g;
	$maxsiglen = $FORM{'maxsiglen'} || 200;
	$FORM{'jrmem'} =~ s/\D//g;
	$jrmem = $FORM{'jrmem'} || 50;
	$FORM{'fullmem'} =~ s/\D//g;
	$fullmem = $FORM{'fullmem'} || 100;
	$FORM{'srmem'} =~ s/\D//g;
	$srmem = $FORM{'srmem'} || 250;
	$FORM{'godmem'} =~ s/\D//g;
	$godmem = $FORM{'godmem'} || 500;
	$language = $FORM{'language'} || 'english.lng';
</search for>

Edit...

This change works for SP1.4 only.  The second step in this post (Step 22 in the mod) has to be different for SP1.3.2.

I thought I'd explain why this has to be done.  The mod was written for SP1.3.1 and when SP1.3.2 was released there were certain changes for security reasons and so on.  Those two steps became incompatible and have to be modified, and again for SP1.4.

Well that did not work for me. I will try again tomorrow when I am less frustrated, in case my mood is producing the problem. I will report here.

become familar with the code and find the string that could not be found... figure out what it is looking for and what it wants to do.. ie,,, add after, replace, add before... be careful and always back up before uploading..
Sometimes I forget to upload the language file or the .pl file included with the mod...
Take your time and analyze the problem...
One step at a time..
once it works ... Test .. Test... and Test...

Thank you. Yes after Kong's info I begin to grasp the concept. The learning curve has been steep in the last few days, but things are beginning to fall into place. Thanks to anyone who helps to teach others, as I will do once I work this procedure out.

Have a little problem installing mbc2_sp13 in SP1.4

The mod asks to replace
Code
Select All
		if($yySetCookies1 || $yySetCookies2) { print header(-status=>"200 OK", -cookie=>[$yySetCookies1, $yySetCookies2], -charset=>$yycharset); }
	else { print header(-status=>"200 OK", -charset=>$yycharset); }

with the following in the Sources/Subs.pl

Code
Select All
	if($yySetCookies1 || $yySetCookies2 || scalar @otherCookies) { print header(-status=>"200 OK", -cookie=>[$yySetCookies1, $yySetCookies2, @otherCookies], -charset=>$yycharset); }

	else { print header(-status=>"200 OK", -charset=>$yycharset); }

My Subs.pl file doesn't have that but has the following:
Code
Select All
	if($yySetCookies1 || $yySetCookies2 || $yySetCookies3) {
		print header(
			-status=>'200 OK',
			-cookie=>[$yySetCookies1,$yySetCookies2,$yySetCookies3],
			-charset=>$yycharset
		);

Can I add $yySetCookies3 to the mod?

in my today counter I added an additional cookie to the code and
it worked for 1.3.1 and 1.3.2, without problems...

your additional cookie is defined and should be okay..
just watch the syntax...

I updated my list above with 2 changes.

1 - Sum Cut Off... dont' knwo for sure until I actually RUN SP1.4 but looks like it does it on it's own now.

This is striaght from the SP1.4 Post.pl...

Code
Select All
# Show only the 10 newest messages in the thread's summary

So I removed Sum Cut Off from my list.

2 - I added that MBC2 will require some editing to make it install.

I some how skipped that when I installed a few days back. (no prob for me cause i am still testing)

It will isntall if you edit those lines correctly but that mod and PasswordSeciruty both do alot with cookies and since SP1.4 doesn't use cookies the same way as before I am not sure if they will work properly ot not.
