	Based on a recent discussion on email addresses being harvested by bots (leading to spam) SP2 already used scrambling technology to hide real adresses. now also available for SP1.3.x Stealth Email Addresses V1.0a This mod makes any visible email address harvester proof (so both guest as well as member email links) It will also disallow Guests to use email links on the board (as harvesters are also considered Guests). How to install: - Apply the mod - Upload the new file (StealthMail.pl). - Upload the changed files (SubList.pl,Display.pl,Profile.pl,english.lng). And it should work Version History 1.0 Original Release 1.0a - Changed scrambling as the previous version had problems with special characters - Added stealth to memberlist emails that are not set hidden.

This isn't actual security in the way The Guardian does but more protection of your members and guests against email spambots and privacy legislation issues that might be valid for your country.

	I´ve just tested it with mozilla and disabled javascript: the window opens and nothing else happens... no mail-client opens, and the window doesn´t close down. the second isn´t that bad, as everybody should be abel to close a window but how many people will think about taking a look at the page-source to find out the mailadress? And another thought: what about members, who don´t use outlook or mozilla-mail, but something like yahoo or aol or web for mailing? I know, that it´s not the prpooer way of using internet, but many of my users are not very familiar with internet at all, and I have to think of them, too

	oh, and I found an error, while I tested this as non-admin-member on my test-board. the message ocurred when openig a thread (at the place, where the mail-link of the author should be) and when trying to view the profil of this author. "an error occoured: Untrapped Error: substr outside of string at ./Sources/StealthMail.pl line 79. " Link to my test-board comes via IM

	done some more testing, and no - it´s not moderators only with this problem. and it´s not caused by one dot inside the username. Tested it with 3 different accounts on my testboard, and only "W.S." has this problem. I don´t know why ???

	Has to do with a minus sign in the email address is my best guess, because if I remove this - from the email on your W.S. account the error is gone. Then I created the same account using the exact data on my test board and could not reproduce the error ??? I have to do some more testing. I'll keep you posted. BTW Wiebke, the code used to open the email client was tested on all major browsers (IE, Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape and Opera) and they all open up the default email client (and close the window afterwards) so it looks like your default email client isn't defined properly.

	Ron, i tried the change you suggested, makes no difference at all. And the error occurs only, when i`m logged in as "W.S." but not with other accounts. And as admin I have an - in my mailadress, too ??? Yes, I don´t use tha mozilla-mailclient
