Add More Smilies and News mod

It appears that the News mod doesn't recognize the code generated by the Add More Smilies mod.  Has anyone else noticed this?  I guess this doesn't really count as a bug, but I thought this was the best board for this topic.

Anyway, I have the News mod installed on my board, and I noticed that it simply writes out the code for my smilies, instead of plugging the images in there.
  
Currently using Y2.3 With no mods (though that will hopefully change, soon).
