After toying around for a solution, I decided to block blank referers using an .htaccess file.

Code
Select All
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www\.)?yourdomain.com(/)?.*$     [NC]
RewriteRule .*\.(gif|jpg|png)$ - [F,NC]

Louisle,

I've got a bit of a problem here. I've moved across country, no longer have access to -my- computer (with all my files and mods and so on), and just moved my forum to a server that uses cPanel. Now, file attachments and upload avatars no longer work. New attachments and avatars are listed, but are 0k and red X'ed.

I know you said the latest version of this gets around the cPanel problem, but from a heavily modded forum with no mods available, anymore, I'm hesitent about flailing around with large mod files. Is there any way to find out the specific changes to deal with cPanel? Then I'll try those, and if they work, I'll also try and figure out how to adapt them to work with file attachments, as well.

(And if that doesn't work, I'll share an ftp, cpanel and yabb log in, to allow better troubleshooting! I want my features back! <ggg>)

Hm, is someone still working on that mod?

I installed it... when I select a file from the hard disk and click on the upload-button, I geht the following error message:

Quote:
OK
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Hm... an "OK" together with an internal error?

Although I get that error message, the avatars are uploaded correctly. But no .dat files are changed, so it doesn't work.

Is there any FINAL mod to upload own avatars? The other mod I found (Upload my avatar 2.0 beta) creates the same error message, but even if I just call the YaBB.pl  ???

@Valtiel:
i have no idea what it could be.... heard of this error message first time, should be something especially on your server... the mod works right, there ist just one bug i have to determine out - it allows to upload *.php files... so maybe wait until i wipe this bug out.

greetings

I get this when I try to upload one:
"Constant subroutine CGI::XHTML_DTD redefined at /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/constant.pm line 108."

I wonder if this is an issue with this mod or should I ask my ISP...?

Edit: The image gets uploaded (if I look in the dir), but it only results in the error above...

Edit2: The filename remains 150.gif...I think it was supposed to be changed to username.gif...?

@FinTeemu:
the gif should be renamed into username.gif - maybe you missed a step ?

I'm using BoardMod and just double-checked that all the changes seem to be there. There's no Upload.pl or anything, right? Just modding the 5 files..?

I also noticed that the filename with IE is the full path:
C:\Documents and Settings\temmeke\My Documents\My Pictures\avatarit\150.gif

But with Opera it's just "150.gif"...both give the same error though. It probably crashes before/when it gets to the renaming part of the code...

Also, Google finds several hits with that error (not related to this mod/YaBB though), but can't really understand most of them Undecided

Edit:
I found what gives the error, in Profile.pl/UploadAvatar2:
     require CGI; import CGI qw(:standard);

The use CGI; on reply #19 doesn't help either, but if I remove that line completely, everything seems to work just fine. Can I just leave it off...? And any ideas why it makes this crash?

So Louisle, when Ron gets the updated version of file attachments working 100% with the newer version of perl (which seems to be where both file attachments and all the other FA-based mods go wrong) will we probably see an update to this, too?

I get the exact same error as FinTeemu when i try to access my profile.  Constant subroutine CGI::XHTML_DTD redefined at /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.3/constant.pm line 108. I have the newest version of File attachment mod 3.0h and that had fixed my 0.0K file upload problem which was caused by my upgraded version of Perl.  Does anyone have a fix for this problem or do i just need to wait till a newer version of Upload Avatar mod comes out that works with the newer file upload mod and newer versions of perl?  Thanks!

@Adam Archibald and batchman:
if you wait a little bit, I will try to assimilate the UAM to the new perl... and to Ron's File Attachment Mod ...

Well, you could try removing the same line I did. Everything seems to work just fine after I took it off.

FinTeemu wrote on Nov 12th, 2004 at 3:22pm:
Profile.pl/UploadAvatar2:

if I remove that line completely, everything seems to work just fine.

Hey everyone.

Got the mod working. Was able to upload and all is working...but I am getting this error now
Quote:
An Error Has Occured!

The Subject field was not filled out. It is required.

Not sure what I did. The subject field is filled out. I manually installed UploadAvatar according to the directions with FA mod installed. Works fine. Tested it and everything. Just cant post now.

Thoughts/Help?

Thanks all!
Mxy
