Okay, hello everybody. This post is to let you know how I (Matt) will be rating your boards from here on out. (I'm not sure if the other mods will adopt this system, I can't speak for them.)
From now on, any board rated by me will be marked on the following:
Use of Graphics Describing how well the user has included animation or graphics in their site. Kudos goes to users who include their own icons rather than default YaBB ones, and icons for individual boards or membergroups.
Originality of Layout and Colour Scheme This rating is about how your board itself looks. Many users have templates that are basically re-coloured versions of the default template.html. Hopefully, this rating will encourage users to be more creative with their layouts and make more of an effort with colour schemes.
Boards Pretty self explanatory, this one is based on how interesting your forum looks in terms of it's categories and boards. if you only have one or two boards, you're going to be marked down. try to give your users some good choice, and multiple sections to keep them interested. That said, points will be deducted for forums with 20+ categories.. unless you get 10,000 hits a day, who needs that many? (This rule does not apply to specialist sites, such as multiple language boards.)
Okay, good luck on those. I'll be rating each section out of 5 stars, 5 being the highest etc etc....
At the end, an overall rating marked out of 15, (three sets of 5 stars each, you do the math...) will be given.
Thank you for reading, and good luck!
-Matt
