I'd like to object to the inclusion of Samm's poll mod in the "Pre-Modded" test until it is updated.

The way the poll mod inserts the poll icon in the message index creates serious compatibility problems for other mods, frequently requiring the release of a seperate version.

To test the compatibility of a mod by installing it on a board which has a mod on it known to cause compatibility problems would be unfair.

Good point, we'll have to look into it. I'm used to the Gold Release version of poll mod, which just replaces the folder icon with a poll icon. I'll agree that using that split cell thing in SP1 wasn't the most brilliant of ideas. Perhaps someone can update poll mod so that it doesn't split the cells? It would make much more sense and work a lot better for everyone, probably.

Has anyone heard from Samm recently, I haven't seen him post anything in a while? Is he planning any updates to his poll mod?

If he isn't, I've got an updated version that is ready for testing - but i'd like his permission before releasing. (it should be more compatible too)

I talked to Samm before i while and got permission to rewrite the poll mod because i personally think it could be much code remove by using the standard post routine and the poll also would be more compat with some mods by that changing. also there are bugs with losing options and a not displayed poll icon if you switch to text only menue. Also the code for splitting the cell for the icon could be much smaller and more compatible.

But BHRA told me that he already updated the poll mod? I don't want the poll mod added if it's not bugfree. Also i don't want the security mod installed (the one with the encrypted passes), hmmm if i think more about it i don't want another pre-modded board! Tongue XXL what happened? Thought you thought the same about it? I don't want the MemberGroups mod added because it's also buggy.

That's my 2 cents. BTW i will always coding mods for a clean Board! I will just try to make the install as much compatible to as much mods i can.

Okay, when Poll mod is once again completed, we'll reconsider adding it at that time.

We weren't planning on using this. We were talking about the security patch for the JavaScript vulnerability.

That's what we're aiming for. As we said, we'll be testing mods both on a clean board and, secondarily, on a slightly modified board. If a mod can be made more compatible, we'll try to ensure that it doesn't get accepted until it is.

Okay, so here's what we've got so far, I think:
  • Security Patch
  • Add Smilies
  • Detach Smilies
  • Stop following my darn mouse

Sound good?

@dOCda S: if you've got permission to re-write the poll mod, and the time to do it, then go for it. I've sent you the beta version I've done, but from reading what you have written above, it could still do with some more work to avoid other incompatibilities. Maybe we should put our heads together?

I can only confirm what michael said, we don't want to make a premodded board, we only want to keep mods a little bit more complatible to each other.

Ok I never got round to read the last post but here are my suggestions anyway.

  • Password Security - stop hacking
  • Polls with on/off switch
  • File Attachment with on/off swtich
  • Add More Smilies
  • Add More MemberGroups
  • Notify Plus

Security fix is included in SP1.1 anyway. 8)
