installing Polls

I am trying to install the Polls Mod for YaBB 1 Gold - SP.  I have done all the ftp bit but the readme.txt that came with it says; "install the mod as normal with boardmod".  Sorry to be so thick but what does this mean?  I don't know how to proceed - so that is why I am here at boardmod asking for help.
Cheers

Hi Brookmans

Go to "Downloads" and download the BoardMod 2.5... this is an editor to install the mods to YaBB...

Cheers

Thanks Spam, I think I am nearly there.  I have downloaded the boardmod and the poll stuff and followed the instructions.

However, Boardmod says it can't find the Display.pl file and can't proceed.  I can't see that file amongst those I downloaded.

Any clues?

Regards

Brookmans

That file is a standard yabb file, and should be located in your sources directory..if board mod says that try to look if you have selected the right path for your yabb.pl, and then check that in yabb.pl directory if you have a folder named "Sources" with display.pl inside.
Hope this can help ya..bye

Well that worked as far as changing the YaBB.pl goes.  The process completed.  I have ftpd it back and the site is working as before but I can't see the polls.  Do I need to ftp any other files back as well as the YaBB.pl to make the polls show?

you have to upload all the files you have modified, along with the poll.pl file and the images ones..

I realise you might be getting sick of me but how do I know which files have been modified?   I know YaBB.pl is one but I don't know what else it has changed.  Is there an easy way to find out?

Yupp...

In BoardMod 2.5 there's a dropdown-field called "Files to edit". there you can see which files have changed...

Cheers

One more quick one.  The poll is working fine but the font is a point larger than the rest of my YaBB.  Which file and which line of that file do I edit to reduce the font to the same as the other pages?

Interestingly I helped a mate add a poll to his site using the same boardmod programme and the same downloaded files and his font is fine.

Check the display.pl and add every <font size=5> tag like in my code bellow and set the size to what you need (i guess it should be <font size=2> for you)...

Cheers
Spam Wink

Code
Select All
  <tr valign="top">
    <td width="65"><font size=5><b>$polltxt{'16'}:</b></font></td>
    <td><font size=5>$pollquestion &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;$endedtext<br><br>
    </font>
    </td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td>&nbsp;</td>
	  <td>
    <table width="90%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">~;

Well I have managed to change one at the top but can't find where to put the <font size=2> to change the others as you will see in this test...

http://www.brookmans.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl/YaBB.pl?board=Traffic;action=displ...

I see in yours that you have inserted the font size in more places but I can't seem to find those places in mine.  Would you mind if I mailed you my display.pl file to see if you can find them please?

actually I think I can do it from the code you sent...I didn't realise I could cut and paste it in text pad.  I will print both off and make the changes myself.  Thanks
